amanda norgaard and the vaccines.
Amanda Norgaard only came in to my “view” because of The Vaccines song Norgaard, which is written about her by the singer Justin Hayward-Young, but more about that later. So who is this person who has an Indie hit written about her?
In 2008 the Danish model was signed to Scoop and later on to DNA Models and Viva London. Even though she is only 172cm tall, she walked for Chanel, Miu Miu, Prada, Christopher Kane and Burberry. In 2010 she was awarded with the titel “Danish Model of the Year” by Dansk. Privately Amanda prefers to wear vintage pieces donned with bits and bobs from H&M, Topshop (which she did also shoot for) etc. In 2010 her favourite designer pieces were from Rodarte and her favourite designer was Bruno Pieters. More info here.
Okay, so Amanda seems to be a successful model but how come The Vaccines sing a song about her. A 17 year old who, “don’t wanna go steady” because she is “probably not ready.” Justin Hayward-Young has reportedly met her once and happened to fancy her, thats what he told the NME: ”She was beautiful but she kissed my friend. It didn’t affect me as much as the song might suggest it did but I thought it would an interesting experiment to write a song about something that wasn’t beating me up. I’d only ever written about things I was obsessing over, it made a nice change and came pretty easy.”
I wonder what his now girlfriend says about that song…
Great Dane’s cheekbones
Teenage hormones
Young complexion
Non-physical affection
You’re a god send
Do you want a boyfriend?
Crazy crazy, easy tiger
Her mind’s made up, she don’t want to go steady
She’s only seventeen so she’s probably not ready
A-m-a-n-d-a norgaard
I saw you on a cover on cross bay boulevard
Smaller tits
And skinny framework
Tall, sharp hips
And you’re all in the same work
Giving me the sweet talk
Walking down the catwalk
I want a mannequin
But she won’t let me in
Her mind’s made up, she don’t want to go steady
She’s only seventeen so she’s probably not ready
A-m-a-n-d-a norgaard
I saw you on a cover on cross bay boulevard
Her mind’s made up, she don’t want to go steady
She’s only seventeen so she’s probably not ready
A-m-a-n-d-a norgaard
I saw you on a cover on cross bay boulevard
Her mind’s made up, she don’t want to go steady
She’s only seventeen so she’s probably not ready
A-m-a-n-d-a norgaard
I saw you on a cover on cross bay boulevard
