DIY tea cup and saucer candles
Hello everyone, It’s Sian from Tea an Toast here I made these little Tea Cup and Saucers the other day and I thought I would share how to do it. It’s dead easy and quick AND I had a lot fun making them! so…
What you will need:
- Old tea cup and saucers. (I brought mine from a charity shop, they were only £2.95 for the set of 4)
- Numerous candles, depending on the size of them. I used 30 tea lights.
- Some string.
- An old saucepan. I wouldn’t recommend using again to cook your dinner with for obvious reasons.
- A pair of scissors.
First of all if you have tea lights like I did you will need to remove the string and the foil, if you have larger candles try and fish the string out when it’s melting. Once you’ve done this, place all of your candles into the saucepan and turn the hob/gas onto low, you want them to melt slowly not too quickly.
Once all your candles have melted so the wax is clear pour your wax into a tea cup, you might want to protect the tabletop incase you spill some you don’t want to damage any surfaces. Be careful because it obviously will be VERY hot!!!
After you have poured your wax in the Tea Cup, cut about 30cm of your string (this will depend on how big your Tea Cup is, you’ll need it long enough to tie it around something) Tie the string around something you can balance ontop of your tea cup and place the string in the middle of the cup.
Then once you have done this place them into the fridge and leave over night for the wax to set. Again be careful because the tea cup might be a little hot!!
And then once it set, cut off the rest of the string but leaving about 2cm so you can light the candle.
ENJOY!!
