the perfect face – so yesterday

Young, tall, skinny and the perfect flawless face. The model industry is not cagey about their basic requirements for models.

But when we look at  what’s going on in fashion magazines and on the catwalk at the moment, it seems that something has changed over the past year.

Jug ears, round faces, freckles, big noses, high foreheads, beauty spots, heavy eyelids – unusual beauty has become a major trend in the fashion industry. Well, obviously we’ve seen gap teeth and freckles before but this time the “unconventional beauty- trend” has almost reached a new level.

The “not so perfect girls” not only appear on catwalks, they also book the major campaigns and face cover of the most important fashion magazines. Best example might be Daga

Ziober. With walking in almost 70 shows, the 19-year-old has been the most booked model during fasion week ss 2012.  And in almost every single show the stylists tried their best to point out her – well let’s say very distinctive ears.

At this point I am wondering, is this just a new trend of the fashion industry? I mean after super skinny and super tall the model industry slowly but surely needs a new and controversial trend. Or is it possible this new imperfection trend  is part of a upcoming ideal of beauty? Are those unusual looks going to be the new perfection?

Whatever, I am a big fan of this new movement. I guess we’ve seen those perfect faces long enough now, the fashion world really needs some remarkable, catchy faces with high a recognition value.

For now I want to show you my favourites ‘not so perfect’ beauties:
