So, you might have already seen on the facebook page that I went and got a new haircut. This doesn’t sound very spectacular but I didn’t go to just another hairdresser, instead I went to the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Brook Street just around the corner from Bond Street Station. The special thing about this place is that on the one hand you’re paying next to nothing for a new haircut (£5) and on the other hand someone is being guided through cutting your hair but you will end up having a trendy Vidal Sassoon haircut. Some of the haircuts might be a bit crazy and it helps being open for a change when you go there, as the hairdressers are supposed to learn something after all. I didn’t have an idea in mind, so I was easy prey. I didn’t even have the chance to enter the reception and already a girl slipped a note into my hand, then another one came doing the same. I guess I looked as if I was up to something that day. Then the waiting began, lots of things had to be organised, who is getting which haircut, who’s teaching who etc.
Funnily enough I got seated to an Alexander McQueen model and had two different hairdressers suggesting me two different haircuts, unfortunately (I preferred the bob with high fringe) the 80s haircut won. Unfortunately because I literally hate layers, but then again I couldn’t care less about my hair which is why it already had to suffer lots.
The hairdresser wanted to leave my ombre hair colour – so it was a cut only, a job that Elin a hairdresser from Sweden took on. She was talked through the process and believe me it’s a scary business and not for the faint-hearted, I did have to think of some make over scenes from the “Next Top Model” shows. But all’s well that ends well. And so I turned out like a 2012 version of Joan Jett, at the moment I like it but I’ve already dallied over a ‘pudding-basin’ haircut.
If you’re interested in getting a fresh haircut yourself, there is Vidal Sassoon academies in the UK, Germany, Canada and the US.
