mbv.
Having grown in a household where the record collection reads as the following: Cranberries, Roxette, Bryan Adams, The Pogues, Jethro Tull, a million 100% rock CDs, U2 and Bon Jovi (As I child I was a big fan of Bryan Adams, The Cranberries and Roxette, not to forget the crush I had on Richard Marx). I kind of missed out on the whole Brit Guitar music thing happening in the 90s. Blame it on my parents. So I grew up not knowing about the feud between Blur and Oasis, missed out big time obviously…. I wasn’t Team Oasis nor was I Team Blur.
Either way, I obviously didn’t have a clue for very very long who My Bloody Valentine was, but I come from a region where young people don’t even know who Ziggy Stardust is, so it’s not exactly surprising. BUT since MBV are back with a brand-new album and I finally got round listening to their back catalogue, I was more than excited by their release. And you should definitely listen to it too, just in case you happen to like shoe-gazing bands or music in general really.
